    Arrival in Salalah

Welcome to Salalah and the green landscapes of Dhofar. Upon arrival at Salalah International Airport, our representative will meet you with a paging board displaying your name and assist you to your private vehicle.

You will then be transferred to your selected hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to relax after your journey and enjoy the facilities and surroundings of your hotel.

  • Day
    02

Ain Sahalnoot – Hamrir Viewpoint – Wadi Nahiz – Jawjab – Jabal Shir Road

Begin your first full sightseeing day at Ain Sahalnoot, one of Dhofar’s picturesque natural springs. During Khareef, the surrounding limestone formations, vegetation and cool mountain air create a peaceful setting for a short walk and photography. The amount of flowing water depends on seasonal rainfall.

Continue towards Hamrir Viewpoint, where the elevated landscape provides panoramic views across the green mountain slopes. Low clouds and drifting mist frequently move through this area during Khareef, giving the scenery its distinctive seasonal atmosphere.

The journey then leads through the mountainous areas of Wadi Nahiz and Jawjab. Rolling green hills, grazing livestock, winding roads and cloud-covered valleys make this one of the most scenic driving sections around Salalah. Several stops may be made along the route for photographs and short walks.

Complete the mountain circuit along Jabal Shir Road, enjoying the changing views across Dhofar’s highlands before returning to Salalah.

Ain Hamran – Ain Athum – Taqah Castle – Koofan Heritage House – Taqah Cliff

Travel east of Salalah to Ain Hamran, a natural spring surrounded by vegetation and rocky mountain scenery. Continue to Ain Athum, which is especially popular during Khareef when seasonal water descends through the green landscape. Waterfall strength and access depend on current rainfall and local conditions.

The journey continues to the historic coastal town of Taqah. Visit Taqah Castle, once the residence of a local governor and now an important reminder of traditional life in Dhofar. Its rooms, architectural details and displays provide an insight into the region’s history. Entrance fees are paid separately.

Nearby, discover Koofan Heritage House, a carefully restored traditional Dhofari house showcasing regional architecture, local heritage and the atmosphere of historic Taqah.

Finish the day at Taqah Cliff, an elevated viewpoint overlooking the town, beach and Arabian Sea. When timing and visibility permit, this is an atmospheric place to enjoy the late-afternoon light or sunset before returning to your hotel.

What weather can I expect during Khareef?

Khareef is the seasonal monsoon period in Dhofar and usually brings cooler temperatures, mist, light rain and green landscapes.

Weather conditions can change quickly, particularly in the mountains. Visibility may occasionally be reduced, and individual stops or routes may need to be adjusted for safety or accessibility.

We recommend bringing a light rain jacket, comfortable shoes and a warmer layer for higher mountain areas.

Roads and walking areas may be wet or slippery during Khareef. Waterproof or quick-drying footwear can therefore be useful.

Passengers who are sensitive to winding mountain roads may also wish to bring suitable motion-sickness medication.

Can the itinerary change because of the weather?

Yes. During Khareef, weather, road conditions, fog, rainfall or temporary access restrictions may affect the planned route.

The driver-guide may adjust the order of visits, replace individual stops or choose a suitable alternative route when necessary. Such changes are made for safety and to provide the best possible experience under the conditions of the day.

Are all seasonal waterfalls and springs guaranteed?

No. The appearance and water level of seasonal waterfalls, springs and natural pools depend on rainfall and current weather conditions.

Some locations may have stronger water flow at certain times of the Khareef season, while others may be less active. Access can also be restricted temporarily due to heavy rain, fog or safety conditions.

Are the tours suitable for guests with limited mobility?

Some Khareef attractions involve uneven ground, wet paths, steps or short walks. Accessibility varies considerably between the individual locations.

Please inform us before booking if a guest has limited mobility or requires special assistance. We will advise which tours and stops are most suitable and whether the itinerary can be adjusted.

How are payments and additional fees handled?

Payment can be made either by direct bank transfer or through Paymob, depending on the payment option selected during checkout.

All fees charged by Marhaba Dhofar are included in the published package price. Any bank charges, foreign transaction fees, currency conversion fees or other costs applied by the customer’s bank, card provider or payment service in the customer’s home country are not included and must be paid by the customer.

All payments are processed exclusively in Omani Rial (OMR). Prices shown on the website in other currencies are provided for general reference only and may vary depending on the exchange rate applied by the customer’s bank, card provider or payment service.

The final amount payable will always be based on the confirmed price in OMR.
