Built in 1708 by Imam Sultan bin Saif II, Al Hazm Castle is considered one of the finest examples of Omani Islamic architecture. Its massive wooden doors, stone-vaulted ceilings, defensive towers, tunnels and secret passages reveal the remarkable engineering skills of its time. The fort also contains rooms once used for religious and scientific education, illustrating its importance as a military, administrative and cultural centre.
